It is said that the temple was built by King Sri Aji Jayapangus Arkajalancana in the 12th century. The inhabitants around the temple, the Tenganan Pegeringsingan as well as their cultural living for instances: the ritual battle dance, Rejang dance, the traditional weaving, etc. are still preserved until nowadays.
